Within the last four days, I've heard four white males say in conversation, without segue or prompting, that it's time we had a female president. Two were Republicans who brought up the subject by saying (paraphrase) "hey you know what - I will vote for Hillary if she runs. We need to try something different," and that the next president should be a woman.
The other two white men are Democrats who simply said its about bloody time we had a female CIC. One of the Democrats also said "the problem isn't that men won't vote for a woman, it's women who won't."
After brief admission that as a woman I'm aware we have intra-gender destroy-our-own tendencies, I had to laugh at this member of my sample set. Laying back on the couch, reading a book, scratching his belly, he failed to see the irony as his comments were played back to him, summarized (by me) to highlight deflection of any responsibility: "we guys have wanted a chick prez for years, we've just been waiting fer youze broads to come around already!"
