Titanic Deck Chairs

I've endured my observer status long enough, paid my dues - today marks my first day as Advisor for the Kerry campaign. Kerry does not yet know this, (my official title: Armchair Kerry Campaign Advisor or AKCA) but with Phil's testimonial spreading around the web it is just a matter of time. So, on with the advice. This is one I've had on the back burner for months, here it goes:

Flip-Flopping vs. Titanic Deck Chairs
Let me explain: if you were on a boat, actually a cruise ship (nautical theme purely coincidental), and someone saw say... an iceberg, and that iceberg was straight ahead, right in the ship's path - which captain would you rather have at the helm?

Captain #1: "Stay the coarse. STAY THE COURSE!"
Captain #2: "Iceberg!?! Drop those chaise lounges and turn this thing around!"

Tom Meyer provides a visual aide.
